Which Audi SUV Has the Most Cargo Space?

Current Lineup Ranked for Ontario Drivers

Cargo space is one of the first things Ontario drivers ask about when they start shopping for an SUV, and for good reason. Hockey bags in January, a full load of mulch in May, a week’s worth of luggage for a cottage run in July: the back of your vehicle has to keep up with the whole calendar. Audi’s current SUV lineup covers a wide range, from the compact Q3 to the three-row Q9, and each one handles space differently.

This guide ranks Audi’s 2026 and 2027 SUVs by maximum cargo capacity, meaning the total volume with the rear seats folded. The numbers below come from Audi Canada’s published figures for each model. Use them to narrow your shortlist before you visit Audi Windsor, where the team can walk you through how each cargo area works in person.

Here is the full lineup, ranked from the most cargo space to the least. Every figure is the maximum configuration with the rear seating folded.

Table
RankModelModel YearMaximum Cargo Capacity
1Audi Q920272,483 L
2Audi Q720272,211 L
3Audi Q820261,722 L
4Audi Q6 e-tron20261,529 L
5Audi Q4 e-tron20261,504 L
6Audi Q520261,473 L
7Audi Q320261,415 L

One note before you compare: the Q7 and Q9 are three-row SUVs, so their maximum figures require folding both the second and third rows. The five-seat models only need the second row folded to hit their maximum.

The Three-Row Leaders: Q9 and Q7

The 2027 Audi Q9 sits at the top of the list with 2,483 L of maximum cargo volume. It is Audi’s newest three-row SUV, and its cargo area is built for families who need to move people one day and gear the next. Audi lists the same 2,483 L maximum for the SQ9 performance model, so choosing the sportier version does not cost you any space.

The 2027 Audi Q7 is close behind at 2,211 L with both rear rows folded. With all seven seats in use, the Q7 still leaves 428 L behind the third row, which is enough for groceries or a few backpacks on the school run. The Q7 comes with a 2.9 L twin-turbo V6 producing 429 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque, quattro all-wheel drive, and a maximum towing capacity of 7,700 lbs (3,493 kg). For Ontario drivers who tow a boat to the lake or a trailer to the campsite, it is the strongest hauler in this group.

  • Q9: 2,483 L maximum, three rows, same figure for the SQ9
  • Q7: 2,211 L maximum, 428 L behind the third row, seven seats standard
  • Both require folding two rows of seats to reach their maximum
The Middle of the Pack: Q8 and the e-tron Models

The 2026 Audi Q8 lands in third place with 1,722 L. It is a five-seat SUV with a coupe-style roofline, and it still out-carries every five-seat model below it on this list. If you want a large Audi without a third row, this is the one to compare first.

Audi’s electric SUVs take the next two spots, and they are separated by only 25 L. The 2026 Q6 e-tron offers 1,529 L, while the 2026 Q4 e-tron offers 1,504 L. Both are five-seat models. For drivers in Windsor who want to skip the gas station while keeping a practical cargo area, these two are the ones to look at closely. The Q6 e-tron is the larger of the pair, and the Q4 e-tron gives up very little space in a more compact footprint.

The Compact Choices: Q5 and Q3

The 2026 Audi Q5 offers 1,473 L with the rear seats folded. Its rear bench slides fore and aft and tilts, so you can trade rear legroom for extra cargo depth without folding anything. The luggage compartment cover stows under the cargo floor, which keeps it out of the way when you load taller items. The Q5 also offers an optional trailer hitch rated at 4,400 lbs (1,996 kg), a useful number for small trailers or a pair of jet skis.

The 2026 Audi Q3 rounds out the ranking at 1,415 L. It is a fully redesigned model for 2026, and its cargo area grew compared to the previous generation. With the second row slid all the way forward and upright, the Q3 offers up to 822 L behind the seats before you fold anything. The second-row seats slide and recline as standard, and the Q3 can tow up to 1,500 lbs (680 kg) with the accessory hitch.

Numbers on a page only tell part of the story. The best way to judge cargo space is to open the tailgate, fold the seats, and picture your own gear inside.
