A look at how the 2023 Audi Q5 compares with the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC

 

 
The 2023 Audi Q5 has a long list of direct competitors, and for consumers looking for a compact luxury SUV, this is good news. There are multiple options on the market, including the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC. Notice, however, as we say the 2022 model because the 2023 GLC hasn't quite arrived yet. That means buyers looking for a premium sport utility vehicle on today's market and comparing the Q5 and the GLC will first notice that the Mercedes-Benz is somewhat lacking in features. This is due to the fact that the model in its current form has been around on the market for quite a while, and although it will be replaced this year, the current generation lacks the refinement, features, and versatility to compare with the 2023 Audi Q5.

As mentioned previously, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC is the previous generation model, which means it doesn't have the modern features or some of the amenities of the 2023 Q5. On the other hand, you're paying roughly the same price, which means that although you have to compromise, you are not getting more for your money.

 

Better Performance and Towing Capacity

For example, both the Q5 and the GLC feature a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder standard powertrain, but the Q5 gives you 261 hp compared to 255 hp in the GLC. The difference may not seem all that important, but you will notice it when passing or accelerating. You will also notice it when towing, as the Q5 can tow 4,400 pounds compared to 3,500 pounds for the GLC. In other words, for the same price, you're getting better towing capability and more power.

 

More Interior Space

You are also getting more interior space. The 2023 Audi Q5 offers 759 litres of cargo space behind the second row, compared to 550 litres for the Mercedes-Benz GLC. Second-row legroom is also superior in the Q5, and overall, the interior is more welcoming and versatile. With over 1,500 litres of total cargo space, the 2023 Audi Q5 is one of the most spacious premium luxury SUVs you can buy in its class. Both the Audi Q5 and Mercedes-Benz GLC have been very popular for years on the Canadian market.
